Sitaphal/Custard Apple, or Annona squamosa is a small tree that is native to the Americas and West Indes. It does well in tropical climate, which explains its broad proliferation across tropical Asia. It made it way to Asia through Spanish galleon voyages.  The fruit are regarded for their taste, nutritional, and caloric value. Its leaves are also used in medicinal preparations across many cultures.

These deciduous trees are known to produce fruit 3-4 months after flowering, once reaching the proper maturity
