This material is a relatively lightweight 20 gauge, with 1″ openings.  It’s great for anti-bird screening, and light-duty predator protection, but if you’re worried about rats or snakes, or you want a sturdier product to keep more determined predators out, we recommend using the 1/2″, 16 gauge hardware cloth instead — or pairing this material with our 23 gauge, 1/4″ galvanized hardware cloth.
